This is not my first blog, nor was it my first choice of a name for this blog. I originally thought that I might blog with my friend Artie and call it “The Sock Monkey and I,” but it seems that WVU doesn’t admit sock monkeys to their master’s program for Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC). Anyway, the objective is an ongoing commentary on new media in the marketplace. You may wonder what a sock monkey would know about the topic anyway.
As I mentioned, this is not my first blog. I began blogging for Artie the Sock Monkey back in 2005 and last blogged for him just about a year ago. You can visit his blog at Artie the Sock Monkey. Please note that Artie was missing, and the final story has yet to be written.
I actually had great plans for Artie, when the Colbert Report started a running gag called “Monkey on the Lam.” It featured escaped monkeys and their stories. My plan was to unveil that Artie, too, was a “Monkey on the Lam.” I had hoped that the ever-adorable Artie could score an appearance on the Colbert Report. Instead, what did we get, but a screenwriter’s strike that lasted 14 weeks. The Screenwriter’s Guild had a beef over their stake in new media. When they returned to work, there was no more Monkey on the Lam. Ah, talk about missed opportunities.
My alternate title for this blog transitioned to “Not the Sock Monkey Blog.” In the end, I determined that could be far too limiting and I settled on the name “Streaming Thoughts.”
Nevertheless, should Artie ever return, he may decide to make a guest appearance here. CBH
